After being orphaned and sent to a mental institution for several years, Anirudh is thrust back into society. En route to his childhood home of Bombay, India, he falls for the beautiful Sunita, a complicated woman with troubles of her own who does not reciprocate his feelings. Anirudh struggles to make a new life for himself in the city despite his mental illness. Along the way he finds a guide in Mohan, a wealthy man whose patronage has its price.
