Canadian documentary filmmaker Gail Singer expands upon her 1980 short about domestic violence, ''Loved, Honoured and Bruised,'' with this feature-length film that explores the topic on a global level. Traveling to locations in Japan, South Africa, Israel, Chile, Russia and Canada, Singer allows women from a variety of cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, religious faiths and education levels to tell their own stories of rape, incest and physical abuse, with a focus on healing and growth.
