Deemed unfit for military service, Bill Morgan desperately wants to enlist, in part to impress the beautiful Lucilla Powell . When Bill finds an ancient lamp, he rubs it and a genie emerges. While the magical entity grants Bill's wish of serving in the army, he gets the era wrong, and the aspiring soldier ends up on a time-hopping adventure, skipping from the Revolutionary War to the discovery of America and other points in United States history.
