As the atrocities of the Holocaust begin to dawn on inhabitants of the Warsaw Ghetto, a teacher, Mordechai Anielewicz, is inspired to form the Jewish Fighting Organization. Spurred by the mass deportation of Jews to the Treblinka concentration camp, Mordecai, along with Yitzhak Zuckerman and Tosia Altman, urges people to build a resistance. They smuggle in arms, eventually battling with Nazi soldiers led by Gen. Stroop .
