A group of archaeologists inadvertently releases an ancient alien killing machine in an isolated town in New Mexico. The monstrous creature causes a car accident, forcing the closing of the only road in and out of the town. The local sheriff, Annie Flynn, investigates the crash site, which reveals a giant, severed, animal-like limb. Later that night, Annie visits a secluded gas station, where she's forced to battle the creature that caused the accident.
