Three lowly farmers capture the daughter of a greedy local governor. The men intend to hold the girl for ransom until taxes are lowered. Unfortunately, they don't have any combat experience and are outmatched by the governor's thugs. Luckily, Sakon Shiba, a scrupulous wandering warrior, arrives in town. Shiba, his warrior friend Kyojuro Sakura and ex-government ronin Einosuke Kikyo defend the peasants, which leads to a final, brutal showdown.
