In 1940s Veracruz, Mexico, sex and political unrest drive ordinary waiter Nacho to the edges of insanity. While working at a popular café, Nacho becomes obsessed with a self-destructive prostitute named Lola, and will do anything to win her heart. Unfortunately, Lola cares only for her Mexican wrestler lover and the assassination of dictator Francisco Franco. Despite warnings from others, Nacho cannot resist Lola and begins losing his mind.
