Victor is a French expatriate who becomes involved in a love affair in Switzerland during the 1950s. The object of his desire is the beautiful Yvonne, an aspiring actress. Yvonne's elderly and flamboyant mentor, Dr. Rene Meinthe, escorts them through moneyed circles and leads them on adventures around the country. Victor wants to settle down with Yvonne, but she proves to be far too free-spirited for a conventional life.
