On the eve of the 21st century, French travel agent François decides to avoid the hectic celebrations and invites some friends and their families to a remote Mediterranean island. Arriving on Christmas, François immediately butts heads with the rental house's groundskeeper, Stéphane, who is late to arrive and has left the house in less than ideal conditions. François is further irked by the other guests' budding friendships with the groundskeeper.
