Secretary Ann Carter fears for her reputation after a photographer snaps an incriminating photo of her at an illegal speakeasy with womanizer Frank Devereaux, the disreputable son of her affluent employer. Carter quits and finds a new position with Lawrence Reagan, a lawyer she proceeds to fall for and marry. When Carter discovers Reagan's sister, Helen, has fallen for Devereaux, she struggles to protect her.
