In 1919, electrician Chuck Hadley befriends former pilot Rix Martin, and the men become interested in developing radio as an entertainment tool. With Chuck's girlfriend, singer Vicki Adams, the men arrange a broadcast -- but disaster strikes, and the event is a failure. Undaunted, the friends continue, airing a successful boxing broadcast with the help of a wealthy investor. But their success is threatened when Chuck discovers Vicki is in love with Rix.
