Salem is a shy, stuttering bachelor with limited social skills, who is part of a theater company when not working at his gas station job. Nada is a good-natured widow and factory worker whom he has been wooing for years. When they finally decide to go to his friend's apartment to consummate their affair, both have a hard time relaxing. But, through her gentle nature, Nada draws Salem out, allowing him to express himself as he has never done before.
