College student Jay is walking with his professor Max when suddenly shots ring out. Seeing his roommate, Walt, calling to him from a nearby rooftop, Jay makes his way toward him, thinking he needs help. But Jay discovers that Walt is the shooter, convinced he's been stricken with a ''metaphysical virus'' going around that erases people from existence and memory. At first perplexed, Jay soon begins to wonder if there's some truth to Walt's story.
