William Randolph Hearst and Orson Welles were powerful men used to getting their own way. So when the cocky young filmmaker chose to make his debut feature a thinly disguised retelling of the scandalous life of the ultra-wealthy newspaper baron, he stepped into a showdown that threatened both men's views of themselves. This made-for-TV documentary presents the battle through interviews with both men's employees, detailing Hearst's attempts to have Welles blackballed in Hollywood.
