This emotional documentary examines the American Dream through a series of candid interviews. Murray Schneider is a Polish Jew who fondly remembers arriving at Ellis Island in 1920. Li Keng Wong, in 1933, has a tougher time crossing over, with no choice but to lie about her Chinese heritage. Janie Chatman, an African-American, moves to Chicago in 1940 to free herself from racism in Alabama. And Eva Canseco flees Tijuana for a better life in California, living as an illegal immigrant.
