When Argentinean theater director Mario Suarez's wife leaves him, he concentrates on making a movie centered around the tango. It isn't long before complications arise, starting with his leading lady, a dancer named Elena -- who happens to be the girlfriend of financier Angelo Larroca . As Mario and Elena enter into an affair, he also finds himself challenged by backers who disapprove of dance sequences reflecting the country's dark years.
