Fed up with his dim-witted family, Lord Richard moves out and, cut off from his money, takes a position as a footman in the house of wealthy Joshua Howard . Only the butler knows Richard's identity, but agrees not to give him away. The Howards are all soon delighted with the range of Richard's knowledge concerning art, music and food. Joshua's niece, Judy, also warms to Richard's charms -- but she soon begins to suspect that he is not what he claims.
