This documentary examines the history of African-American women film directors, examining their current place in the industry as well as the long and arduous road they traveled to get there. Containing interviews from filmmakers such as Julie Dash, Kasi Lemmons, Cheryl Dunye and even Maya Angelou, Yvonne Welbon's film looks at the obstacles that have always been in the path of black female directors and the resourceful ways in which they have overcome them to make their movies.
