After six years of unrequited love for her boss, Richard Barclay, executive secretary Julia Scott refuses a job in Paris, yet declares her plans to move to France to find a husband. Fearful of losing Julia's talents, Richard marries her and demands she sort out his messy home life with his young daughter and overbearing sister.
