Nadia is the 15-year-old daughter of Polish communists in postwar Paris. The love of her life is Stalin, until a handsome young photographer, Stephane, seduces her. Nadia's sexual awakening arouses the contempt of her Red Youth peers and brings up a crisis of faith for her. When her mother's childhood lover arrives in Paris after years in a Siberian gulag, the ugly truths about Stalinism shatter Nadia's illusions.
