Rumors abound that a convent of nuns is afflicted with demonic possession. A priest, Father Jozef Suryn, goes to investigate the troubling reports. It seems that the nuns were complicit in the death of Father Grandier and that Mother Joan of the Angels, who was directly responsible for Grandier's downfall and death, is in need of exorcism. Suryn attempts to relieve her of her supernatural suffering but is conflicted as his feelings for her grow.
