Seeking a change, young Swedish pastor Tobias Carling transfers from the city to a church in the suburbs. Unfortunately, he finds that many locals are uninterested in attending services, so he goes from house to house to recruit churchgoers. Eventually, he meets the vivacious and wheelchair-bound Carola Christiansson, who lives in a rough area. Despite their differences, Tobias and Carola begin a relationship that affects both of them in surprising ways.
