In a tiny and impoverished African city, the lives of the locals all seem to revolve around the bar that belongs to Papa Sandu . The members of one particular family, ruled over by the matriarchal Mother Bavusi, inhabit the dive on a continual basis. One son, Mike, is a boxer; another, Kapa, is a mechanic; and the third son, Duka, was conceived in secret with Papa Sandu himself.
