Rafael, a strapping young Spanish gypsy, falls for the beautiful Juana, a young woman from a rival family. Juana uses her impressive flamenco dancing skills to gain the favor of Rafael's adoring mother, Angustias . The lovers plot to elope, but, unfortunately for them, Juana's disapproving father has promised her hand in marriage to Curro, a man with no qualms about forcing them apart, even if it means bloodshed.
