Gerardo Latini is an actor in search of a role. When his vaudeville performances don't pay the bills, he embarks on a new career as a con artist. He impersonates all sorts of people, learning many tricks from former prison buddy Chinotto . In one of his greatest coups, he convinces the paparazzi that he's reclusive star Greta Garbo. But his girlfriend, Annalisa, is eager for him to settle down and get married.
