A wealthy ambassador and a handful of his bourgeois friends gather for dinner, but their hostess was expecting them on a different night. The group then tries to dine at a restaurant, only to find the waiters mourning the sudden death of their manager. It soon becomes clear that the sophisticated group is fated to have their meal interrupted by increasingly bizarre occurrences as reality unravels and their upper-class conventions crumble around them.
