Five years after a catastrophic chemical bombing, a Kurdish-American named Diyari returns to his devastated hometown of Halabja, Iraq, to build an orphanage for the children. There he meets Jiyan, a young girl scarred by the attack and 12-year-old Shérco, her only living relative. As Diyari brings hope back into their bleak lives, each child reveals their aspirations. Shérco hopes to marry someday, while Jiyan dreams of seeing flowers bloom.
