One year after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, high-school basketball coach Al Collins gathers displaced students and rebuilds the school team, the Patriots. Though the young athletes originally hailed from five different schools, Collins builds them into a cohesive unit and takes aim at the high-school basketball championship.
