While visiting the small town of Guantanamo, the famous singer Yoyita dies unexpectedly while reminiscing with her old flame, Candido . When Yoyita's niece, Georgina, makes plans for a funeral in Havana, her undertaker husband uses the opportunity to implement his gas- and money-saving coffin transportation scheme across Cuba. The trip results in misadventures, black-market dealings and insights into life and politics in Cuba.
