When his owner, police officer John Gray, is killed in the line of duty, Bobby, a particularly faithful West Highland terrier, takes up residence in the graveyard where Gray was interred. Bobby charms everyone he meets, and the canine's continued exploits make him a legend among the local working poor. When oppressive factory owner Smithie plots to kill Bobby, Gray's impoverished young ward, Ewan, must protect him from a ruthless dog catcher.
