Ella and Mark Brice are on their honeymoon at a resort in Miami. When Ella meets cabana boy Alan Riply, sparks fly and they fall into each other's arms. When powerful politician Mark discovers the affair, he attempts to kill Alan, disfiguring him in the process. Years later, under the assumption that Alan is dead, Mark hires Manuel Esquema (also Fiennes) to help him with some legal problems. However, he fails to realize that Manuel is Alan.
