Arlene Bradford is a careless socialite playing criminal in San Francisco's underworld, along with her ineffectual fiancé, and unaware of the consequences her actions can bring. When Arlene's naivety leads to her disappearance, her grounded sister, Val, takes it upon herself to investigate. In the process, Val joins up with reporter Tony Sterling and photojournalist Izzy Wright -- but her life is in danger now as well.
