After the death of his ailing mother, Martin Lynn feels desperately alone. His only concern is that his mother receive an elegant burial. Unfortunately, Martin is also in a dire financial situation and cannot afford an expensive church service. Enraged, Martin viciously directs his frustrations at a clergyman, killing him. The impulsive act leaves Martin in an even more despondent state, though a kindly priest may be able to guide the young man toward redemption.
