In 19th-century Venezuela, powerful landowner Doña Bárbara is a woman committed to dominating the men surrounding her. She stops at nothing to get her hands on more land, using crime and corruption to gain her hold on society. She eventually rouses the suspicions of Santos Luzardo, a well-connected rancher.
