When Tommaso, a successful Italian advertising executive, and Stefania, a makeup artist, decide to get married, they opt for a rustic wedding outside of Milan. At the ceremony, the priest talks about the ups and downs of relationships, and both are depicted, as the film looks back at Tommaso and Stefania's courtship and forward to their future. As their relationship is traced, the movie touches on romance, infidelity and parenthood, among other topics.
