A safecracker, Victor Spanksy, a philandering husband, Alex Gates, an angry stepson and an illegal immigrant make a up a seething stew of jealousy, greed and ambition which can only be assuaged by a million-dollar diamond necklace. After burning through his wife's fortune, Gates, who is desperate to run away with his mistress, Gabriella, a nanny, arranges the theft with Spansky, unaware of his stepson's intent to ruin him.
