After the Spanish Civil War, Farriol and his son, Andreu, are forced to separate when Farriol's old business partner and romantic rival is found dead. While Farriol flees to France, Andreu goes to live at his grandmother's farm, where he gets to know his father's sisters and his cousin, Nuria, a sexually rambunctious girl. He also learns about the powerful Mrs. Manubens, who may hold the key to exonerating his father.
