Backroads

This early feature by director Phillip Noyce focuses on two Australian men who steal a car and take off on a road trip. Together, Jack, a wandering white troublemaker, and Gary, his laid-back aboriginal companion, drive around New South Wales and pick up hitchhikers. As the duo's behavior becomes increasingly wild, their journey descends into a drunken crime spree. When things turn violent, the police begin to close in, determined to take the reckless pair down.
