Based on Tony Kushner's lauded play, this sweeping production, which mixes real-life and fictional characters, is set against the backdrop of the 1980s AIDS epidemic. While conservative attorney and closeted homosexual Roy Cohn slowly dies of AIDS, he is tormented by the ghost of Ethel Rosenberg, whom he helped convict of being a Russian spy. Meanwhile, Cohn's employee Joe Pitt, a closeted, married gay attorney, also struggles with his sexuality.
