When Carlos is stood up by his girlfriend, Julia, he daydreams three possible futures for himself stemming from that moment. In one, Carlos finds himself married to Maria, living a comfortably bland yet unfulfilled life until he meets Julia. Another sees Carlos divorced from Julia and living with a male lover. The third has Carlos living irresponsibly in his mother's basement, when along comes Julia in the guise of an artist.
