In a film based on Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's children's books, Alice McKinley is an 11-year-old girl coping with her mother's death. Her father moves her and her brother to a new town and, as if that weren't enough, she promptly embarrasses herself in front of her newly minted crush and gets assigned a spiteful homeroom teacher . The only way to survive these adolescent pitfalls is to escape into her imagination.
