Raymond is hunting in the North Carolina woods when he comes across an abandoned infant. Scooping her into his arms, he heads into town, a place he rarely goes, and knocks on doors trying to find the parents. He briefly runs into Truman, a creepy traveling salesman hawking his wares. The two men go their separate ways, but, as Raymond becomes more attached to the baby, Truman becomes more obsessed, and they seem destined for a climactic encounter.
